Shortlisted Films Announced For 2023 Ayrshire Film Festival

With limited time in our running order it was impossible to fit all the fantastic projects our media students have created this academic year into the Ayrshire Film Festival. So our students have been on tenterhooks waiting to discover which films have made the cut.

Not just our students but students from other schools, colleges and universities submitted excellent work. But the space for their selections is also limited.

We have five awards in total. Three of them are internal awards for Ayrshire College students, one for the external submissions and then the highly coveted audience award which everyone is in with a chance of winning.

The Shortlisted Films For This Years Ayrshire Film Festival Are...

For our internal Level 5 award we have three group productions all from our Introduction To Film And Broadcasting course.

Mystique - A detective struggles to solve a crime until he figures out there may be treachery on the inside.

Outcast - A young outsider gains the courage to fight back but an alter ego may be pushing him too far.

Hellhouse - In a dystopian world the government's plan to eradicate the prison population means it's every man and woman for themselves. Only one can survive but they are up against more than each other.

There are three shortlisted films, all group productions, for our internal Level 6 award and they all come from our NQ Film And Broadcasting course.

Interrogation - A serial offender is put under pressure to admit to the crime but in this instance does his profile fit the bill?

The Initiation - Life on the county lines brings responsibility and loyalty. But how far can one boy go to prove he has what it takes?

Under The Influence - With life coming apart at the seams a young man needs someone to blame but who exactly is the malignant influence?

The shortlisted films for our internal Level 7 award are all graded units from our HNC Media Analysis And Production course.

Glasgow Films - Even locals might be surprised by the sheer breath of opportunities Glasgow provides filmmakers.

Tales Of The Unknown - Just where do myths and legends come from? In an ever more digital world are we closer to, or further from, finding out?

Eye - A china doll takes pity on a teddy bear with a faulty eye. As their relationship grows is she willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for her friend?

The shortlisted films for our external award come from Dumfries and Galloway College and City Of Glasgow College.

Sport Nut Vs Plain Bread - An underdog story set on a baseball diamond in the style of Japanese anime.

Outlander - Confusion, abandonment and the unknown follow a refugee fleeing the war in Ukraine.

There is still time to RSVP to the Ayrshire Film Festival. Everyone is welcome and it is free to enter. We start at 10:00am at the Gaiety Theatre in Ayr. Hope to see you all there for a wonderful day celebrating our work.
